Carl Wayne

Man, I sure do miss that summer coat!

This is Bon's Midnight Dancer. He goes by many different names, some which are more inappropriate than others. His main AKA is Carl Wayne or CW (for those who can't laugh without saying his real name... poor guy). Yes, it is an unfortunate name. It does come with a story though, and it was given by the person that gave him to me. If you are familiar with Texas Country there is a band called The Casey Donahew Band that often sings funny songs and has overall great music. They have a song called White Trash Story. In this song there is a guy named Carl Wayne who has had three DUI's, but he keeps on partying anyway because WHY NOT!

This is Carl Wayne. He has had many tries at different events, and he has failed at most of them except one... jumping. He was a team roper - head horse for a while, but he "bucked" a few people off so they stopped that. He was then an attempt of a pick-up horse/bull horse for a friend of mine, but he "bucked" with Jeff while tied off to a bull, so that didn't work out. Then he was a try at a bucking horse (because he wanted to buck so much), but he didn't work at that either because he didn't buck. Needless to say CW did not want to be a rope horse of any sorts, but he has found a lot of joy in being a jumper.

CW had a rough life before he got into the hands for someone that actually kind of liked him. He has been known to "wreck shit", in the words of Jeff, by pulling back when tied up, and he also sees dead people. It has taken some time, but he is getting better and baby steps are still progress.

CW's other hobbies include trying to hurt himself a lot, eating a bunch, having little breaks, and always standing in mud or rolling in it. That last one makes me very angry, and I think he does it to intentionally make me have to pamper him. He is kind of a puppy beneath all that non-sense. He enjoys being brushed, fed, given lots of cookies, hanging out in the paddock with his BFF Oedie, rolling (in the mud), jumping, and running.

He really is my special boy. I like to pamper him as much as possible, and I treat him like a child. We have really created a special relationship, and I often get asked how I manage a horse like him. I have just come accustom to not taking things for granted and always doing this with care in mind. I also decided to just give him a chance to be "normal". It has really worked. He will now tie and has never attempted to buck. He really is extremely special to me. After all, I rely on him to keep me sane.

My snuggle bug looking for cookies.
He really is something special to me.
Thank god curiosity doesn't kill the horse.
He loves his job.
