I would like to give you a little update in what has been going on since my last blog post (in January). I turned 22 years old. It's really not a big accomplishment, and I didn't do anything for my birthday. I just drank a big margarita, ate Mexican food (my favorite kind of food), and rode CW. I transferred schools and then gave up on the transfer and started fresh at Penn Foster to get my Veterinary Technician Degree. I decided that make a ton of money probably wasn't going to happen, and I should do something that makes me happy. I plan on taking the Equine Technician classes through AAEP after my two year degree, and then getting a certification in Equine Massage Therapy.
CW got his annual checkup and got a clean bill of health. I also got told that he looks great, and that his weight is manageable now! I get to add 25-30lbs onto him, and he will be the "perfect" weight. He is sound and starting to work pretty beautifully on the flat, after much frustration on my part. Okay, he was probably also frustrated with me at times, too!
We are starting to do lateral work. I decided we both over think everything and it makes our brains go mush, and then it makes our bodies do stupid things. It's hard being a Rider On Their Own (ROTR, shout out to the COTH clique). I don't have anyone to yell at me and tell me to stop sticking me elbow out like a chicken. I also don't have anyone to tell me that I am giving my poor horse all the wrong queues, but we somehow manage to work it out and produce good stuff, eventually.
I promise I will start keeping this up. I will also start documenting my rides a lot better!
